Italy's men's volleyball squad heads to Ljubljana for VNL week two
The Italian men’s volleyball team arrived in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for the second leg of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League scheduled from June 24 to 28. Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi selected a 14‑player roster that includes four members of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza. After a 3‑1 victory over Brazil in the opening week, Italy will face Bulgaria on June 24, Ukraine on June 25, Brazil again on June 26 and host Slovenia on June 28, with all matches broadcast live on DAZN and VBTV.
In parallel, the Italian federation (FIPAV) concluded the opening day of its “Stati Generali della Pallavolo Italiana 2026” in Catania, reviewing its financial results, development projects and the roadmap to the 2026 European Championship. The domestic transfer market saw Cucine Lube Civitanova sign outside hitter Davide Gardini, while Numia Vero Volley Milano retained American outside hitter Khalia Lanier for a second season. Youth competitions concluded with Lombardy winning the boys’ AeQuilibrium Cup and Veneto defending the girls’ title.
These activities highlight Italy’s ongoing focus on both international competition and the growth of its national volleyball structure.
