Italy's Ministry of Economy launches hiring of 180 tax magistrates

The Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance has opened a national public competition to recruit 180 new tax magistrates on permanent contracts. The magistrates will serve in the Department of Tax Justice, presiding over first‑ and second‑instance tax courts and deciding disputes between the State, taxpayers and local authorities, including large tax assessments, administrative seizures and high‑impact corporate litigations.

Applicants must hold a master's degree in Law, Economics or Business Economics (or an equivalent qualification), be Italian citizens, of legal age, and meet strict moral and civil‑rights criteria, including no criminal convictions. A non‑refundable registration fee of €50 is required. Selection will be based on written and oral examinations designed to assess technical knowledge and analytical abilities.

The recruitment aims to strengthen Italy’s tax justice system, which handles thousands of fiscal disputes annually and is considered crucial for legal certainty and economic stability.
