Italy's Pantelleria and Tuscan Archipelago Parks Celebrate Major Anniversaries

The Pantelleria National Park marks its 10‑year anniversary on 28 July. President Sergio Mattarella will attend a ceremony at the Pantelleria airport hangar, commemorating the park’s 2016 founding decree and its UNESCO World Heritage‑listed landscape.

The Tuscan Archipelago National Park observes its 30‑year anniversary, celebrated on 22 July. Established by a 1996 presidential decree, the park covers the islands of Elba, Giglio, Capraia, Montecristo, Pianosa, Giannutri and Gorgona. Park President Matteo Arcenni highlighted biodiversity protection as an economic resource, cited the park’s inclusion on the IUCN Green List, and outlined plans for sustainable tourism, cultural education and climate‑change monitoring.
