Itatí prepares for 47th NEA Youth Pilgrimage with 400,000 expected
The 47th NEA Youth Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Itatí is expected to draw approximately 400,000 pilgrims this weekend, September 19 and 20. Organized by the NEA Youth Pastoral, the event follows the theme ‘Walking with Mary to heal, dream and serve.’
To manage the large influx of people, the Corrientes Provincial Police and Ministry of Security have implemented a comprehensive safety and traffic plan. This includes 253 officers, 43 vehicles, and drones to monitor the routes. Significant traffic diversions will be in place, particularly for heavy vehicles on National Route 12.
Additionally, the Municipality of Itatí has announced parking fees under Ordinance 03/2025. The rates are set at $9,000 for private cars and $50,000 for buses. The Youth Pastoral clarified that these fees are a local municipal requirement and not a decision made by the religious organization.
