Overview

The 47th Northeast Argentina (NEA) Youth Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Itatí drew approximately 400,000 participants. Organized under the theme ‘Walking with Mary to heal, dream and serve,’ the event involved delegations from ten dioceses across Corrientes, Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, and northern Santa Fe walking or cycling over 70 kilometers.

In preparation for the event, authorities in Corrientes implemented a security and traffic plan involving hundreds of officers, vehicles, and drones to manage the influx of people. Local municipal ordinances also established parking fees for private vehicles and buses.

During the pilgrimage, Archbishop José Adolfo Larregain and other regional bishops addressed the crowds, urging youth to prioritize spiritual growth and social commitment over consumerism. Despite rain and mud, the event proceeded with a large-scale security operation coordinated by the Corrientes Police, Gendarmerie, and Civil Defense.
