ITS Academy launches Smart Cities Control Room lab in Prato

ITS Academy Energia Ambiente e Sostenibilità inaugurated a new “Smart Cities Control Room” laboratory in the Estra premises in Prato, Italy. The facility, financed with €883,729.49 from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), is designed as a high‑tech training environment where ITS students can collect, visualise and analyse real‑time data from urban mobility systems and energy installations.

The lab aims to equip students with practical skills for utilities, public administrations and technology firms, enabling them to monitor consumption, detect anomalies and optimise urban services. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister Tommaso Foti (European Affairs, PNRR and Cohesion Policies), regional officials, the mayor of Prato and other representatives, underscoring institutional support for the ITS system as a driver of specialised technical training and industrial competitiveness in Italy.
