ITTF restores Russian players' eligibility for international table tennis
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced that Russian athletes will be allowed to compete in all ITTF events under their national flag starting 28 July. The board’s decision follows the International Olympic Committee’s recommendation to lift sanctions on Russian and Belarusian participants. Russian players must meet the usual requirements on registration, accreditation, anti‑doping, and other competition regulations; existing visa, legal or host‑nation restrictions remain unchanged.
The move comes after the IOC temporarily reinstated the Russian Olympic Committee and after the ITTF had already restored Belarusian players earlier in the year. The federation said the reinstatement applies to both individual and team events, including para‑table‑tennis, and that athletes will be subject to the same disciplinary and integrity rules as all competitors.
