Ivory Coast and Gabon conduct joint military training with France
Military forces from Ivory Coast and Gabon are undergoing specialized training in collaboration with French personnel to enhance operational capabilities in specific regional contexts.
In Ivory Coast, an Ivorian military detachment is participating in joint commando and obstacle crossing training at the General de Corps d’Armée Ouattara Paul Thomas d’Aquin camp in Abidjan. This preparation is intended to ready troops for their upcoming deployment with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
In Gabon, 25 non-commissioned officers from the defense and security forces, including members of the Republican Guard, are participating in a technical training program alongside 10 French soldiers. The training focuses on equatorial forest operations, specifically targeting the fight against illegal gold mining. Exercises include jungle infiltration, site seizure, and suspect capture to prepare trainees to serve as section leaders in difficult forest environments.
