Ivory Coast opposition PDCI-RDA demands national dialogue on electoral reform

The Democratic Party of Ivory Coast – African Democratic Rally (PDCI‑RDA) called on the government to open an urgent, inclusive and responsible national dialogue on revising the country's electoral system. The plea follows a June 22 information session where Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé outlined the main directions of the proposed reforms. The opposition party praised the government's acknowledgement of shortcomings in the current framework but warned that the process appears unilateral, citing multiple comparative studies and expert consultations already undertaken.

PDCI‑RDA insists that genuine consensus is essential for electoral confidence and urges the immediate convening of a dedicated national round‑table on the voting system and the management of elections. The party stresses that peace must be built before elections and expressed readiness to join any sincere consultation that guarantees a widely accepted and transparent electoral system.
