Ivrea Attempted Homicide Averted as Man Douses Partner with Diesel

On the night of July 4‑5 in the San Bernardo district of Ivrea, a 47‑year‑old man of Moldovan origin poured diesel fuel over his cohabiting partner during a violent dispute. While intoxicated, he grabbed a lighter and attempted to set the woman on fire. A friend present in the house intervened, physically restraining the attacker and allowing the victim to call emergency services. Carabinieri arrived promptly, seized the lighter and arrested the suspect on charges of attempted homicide. He was transferred to the local house of detention pending further investigation.
