IWC Schaffhausen releases limited Ingenieur 50th Anniversary editions
IWC Schaffhausen has announced two limited-edition timepieces to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ingenieur SL, a model originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1976. While the original Ingenieur SL saw limited commercial success with only 598 units produced between 1976 and 1983, it has since become a highly sought-after icon among collectors.
The anniversary collection includes the Ingenieur Automatic 40 and the Ingenieur Automatic 35. Both models are limited to 1,150 pieces each and feature stainless steel cases and bracelets. A key design element is the satin-finished silver-plated dial, inspired by rare variations of the 1970s original. To mark the milestone, the traditional lightning bolt motif under the “Ingenieur” logo has been replaced with the number “50”.
The 40mm model utilizes the in-house Calibre 32111 movement, featuring a 120-hour power reserve and a soft iron inner case for magnetic protection. The 35mm model is equipped with the Calibre 47110 movement and features a sapphire crystal case back with perlage and Côtes de Genève finishing.
