İzmir Students Earn Gold, Two Bronze Medals at TIMO World Math Olympiad

A team of 50 students from the Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) in İzmir, coordinated by mathematics teacher Merve Cebeci, qualified for the TIMO World Math Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan. At the competition on 4 July, the team secured one gold medal (Kerem Tan), two bronze medals (Ela Güzelocak and Yılmaz Kaan Çelebi) and three honor (mansiyon) awards (Kaan Karaarslan, Ebrar Çetin, and Çınar Bayram Çelenk), representing Turkey.

The success follows the team’s earlier achievement at the national Turkey Mathematics Competition, and the organizers highlighted the disciplined, three‑year preparation that emphasized both academic excellence and personal development.
