Izmir water authority hits record daily production

The İzmir Water and Sewerage Administration (İZSU) reported that daily water output reached 737,519 cubic metres on 17 June, surpassing the previous record of 725,000 cubic metres set on 16 June. The surge in consumption forced the utility to draw heavily from the Gördes Dam (34.4% of total output) and the Göksu wells, while the contribution from the Taçalı Dam fell to 15.5% of the supply.

Overall water reserves stood at 354 million cubic metres, enough for roughly 480 days at the current consumption rate of 738 000 cubic metres per day. Active storage levels dropped, with the Taçalı Dam at 53.3% and the Gördes Dam falling below 40%, prompting İZSU to limit withdrawals from Taçalı to protect long‑term water security.
