Jabalpur woman defrauded of 45,000 rupees by cybercriminal

A woman in Jabalpur was defrauded of 45,000 rupees by a cybercriminal posing as a police officer. The victim, Vaishali Ahirwar, reported that the scammer claimed an Instagram friend from the USA had been detained at the Mumbai airport for possessing gold and dollars without proper GST documentation.

The perpetrator coerced the victim into transferring the funds via a QR code under the name Rani Devi to cover alleged documentation charges. An FIR has been registered by the Kotwali police following the report.
