Overview
A woman in Jabalpur reported being defrauded of 45,000 rupees by a cybercriminal who impersonated a police officer. The scammer allegedly claimed an Instagram acquaintance from the USA had been detained at Mumbai airport for possessing undocumented gold and dollars. The victim was coerced into transferring funds via a QR code to cover purported documentation charges. An FIR has been registered by the Kotwali police.
