BMKG warns of coastal flood risk and forecasts mostly clear weather across Indonesia

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) announced that the country will experience predominantly clear skies on 7 July 2026, with only limited areas seeing light rain, fog or isolated showers. The agency’s nationwide forecast listed clear conditions for major cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya, while light rain was expected in parts of Sumatra, West Java and the eastern islands. BMKG also issued an impact‑based forecast (IBF) programme to improve early‑warning communication.

In parallel, BMKG issued a flood‑risk warning for coastal “rob” from 8 July to 22 July 2026, triggered by a super New Moon on 14 July that could raise tide levels. The warning covers a long coastline from Aceh to Maluku, including the north‑west coast of Java, Sumatra, the Riau Islands, Bali, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Residents in the affected zones were urged to stay alert, monitor maritime updates and prepare for possible disruptions to ports, fisheries and coastal settlements.

BMKG advised the public to follow official channels for updates, avoid outdoor activities during sudden rain, stay hydrated in high temperatures and heed local evacuation instructions where flood risk is high.
