Jack Nicklaus oversees Las Iguanas Golf Course progress in Cap Cana

Legendary golfer and course designer Jack Nicklaus has returned to Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, to oversee progress on the Las Iguanas Golf Course. The project, developed under Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, is currently operating with nine holes, with construction continuing to complete the full 18-hole course by the end of 2026. The full opening is projected for the spring of 2027.

During his visit, Nicklaus and his team evaluated construction, design, and the integration of the course into the natural environment. Nicklaus noted that Las Iguanas was previously partially finished and is now being completed. He also highlighted the success of the Punta Espada Golf Club, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is recognized as a premier facility in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Fernando Hazoury, President of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana, stated that Nicklaus’s involvement reinforces the long-term development vision of the destination. The new infrastructure aims to strengthen Cap Cana’s position in sports and golf tourism, complementing existing international competitions such as the ATP Challenger 175 and Ironman 70.
