Jackson police investigate death of Tasia Fortune in Mississippi

The Jackson Police Department is investigating the death of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune, whose body was discovered on August 3 behind an abandoned home on Road of Remembrance in Jackson, Mississippi. Fortune was found hanging from a tree, and the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office has conducted an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Fortune’s family is actively contesting any suggestion of suicide. Her mother, Christy Spivey, stated that Fortune appeared to be “at peace” and in a good emotional state during their last meeting following a family reunion in Kentucky. Spivey insisted, “She did not do this to herself.”
