Sydney Swans players under investigation for alleged sexual assault

Victoria Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving several Sydney Swans players at a hotel in East Melbourne. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 17, at the Pullman Hotel on Wellington Parade, shortly after the team defeated Essendon at the MCG.

Sydney Swans CEO Matthew Pavlich confirmed that several players were involved in the alleged incident and stated the club is cooperating with authorities and conducting internal inquiries. While no players have been arrested or charged, reports indicate that players including Isaac Heeney, Riley Bice, James Jordon, and Chad Warner have been assisting police with inquiries.

The investigation has caused significant disruption ahead of the AFL finals. The AFL has reportedly delayed the announcement of its All-Australian squad due to the unfolding situation. The club and the league are currently weighing decisions regarding potential player sanctions and whether involved individuals should be stood down from upcoming matches.
