Jacques Rougeau involved in backstage dispute at AEW Redemption
Jacques Rougeau was involved in a backstage dispute at the AEW Redemption event after a video he produced for a family celebration was rejected for use during the Buy-In pre-show. The rejection was reportedly due to several factors, including the use of generative AI—a technology AEW President Tony Khan is known to oppose—concerns regarding the video's length, and unverified copyright ownership of the included music and footage.
The video featured a 1997 match in which Rougeau pinned Hulk Hogan. While there were concerns that the footage might be owned by WWE, it was actually from an independent show; however, ownership could not be verified quickly enough for the broadcast. The dispute led to a reported backstage confrontation where Rougeau was advised to calm down to avoid being removed from the Bell Centre by security. Rougeau has since denied that a significant incident occurred, and the video was eventually posted to his personal Facebook account.
