Jacuizinho River bridge construction completed in Rio Grande do Sul
The construction of a new 120-meter bridge over the Jacuizinho River, connecting the municipalities of Arroio do Tigre and Estrela Velha, has reached structural completion. The project, which involved an investment of R$ 6.745 million, aims to restore vital connectivity in the Vila Itaúba region following the destruction of the previous structure by floods in 2024.
The original bridge was lost during heavy rains in late April and early May 2024, disrupting local transportation, agricultural logistics, and access to healthcare services, such as the Santa Rosa de Lima Hospital. While a temporary wooden crossing was established in January 2025, it was also destroyed by subsequent heavy rains in May 2025.
Work is now entering its final phase, which includes the execution of access embankments. The official opening date will be announced once all services are completed and safety conditions are verified.
