Jagex addresses save corruption and visual issues in RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Jagex is addressing technical issues affecting RuneScape: Dragonwilds following its launch. Approximately 1,000 players across PC and consoles have encountered corrupted saves, which can occur when disconnecting, using sleep mode, or editing character appearances. To resolve this, the developer is implementing a recovery system where affected players receive new characters equipped with Tier 4 gear and pre-leveled skills based on aggregated progression data. This process aims to preserve character names, appearances, and world progression.

Additionally, Jagex has acknowledged visual performance issues on the Nintendo Switch 2, noting that the current resolution and image quality have not met expectations due to a prior focus on frame rate stability. The studio has committed to a long-term improvement plan, including gradual updates and a future transition from Unreal Engine 5.6 to 5.8 to utilize Lumen Lite for better lighting optimization. The developer also noted reports of inventory and progress synchronization issues on the Switch following a recent patch.
