Jaguar to unveil Type 01 electric grand tourer in New York

Jaguar is scheduled to unveil its Type 01 electric grand tourer in New York this week, marking a pivotal moment in the brand’s transition to an all-electric lineup. The vehicle is the company’s first production model built on a dedicated electric platform and is expected to feature three electric motors producing over 1,000 horsepower.

Managing director Rawdon Glover described the launch as one of the most significant in the company’s 90-year history. The Type 01 aims to establish a distinct identity through dramatic proportions and a sculptural four-seat interior, moving away from standard electric vehicle design trends. While specific pricing has not been officially confirmed, reports suggest a price point exceeding £130,000.

The debut follows a period of significant controversy surrounding Jaguar’s recent rebranding and “Copy Nothing” marketing campaign. Despite a reported 97.5 percent drop in sales last July, the company maintains that its new design philosophy and identity are central to its future ambitions.
