Jaguar unveils Type 01 electric grand tourer

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially unveiled the Type 01, a high-performance, all-electric four-door grand tourer that marks a radical shift for the British luxury brand. Debuting in New York, the Type 01 is the first production model built on the brand's new, dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), designed to support a luxury-focused value proposition rather than a volume-based model.

The vehicle features a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system producing up to 1,030 horsepower and 1,365 Nm of torque, enabling an acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. It is equipped with a 118 kWh battery and an 850-volt electrical system, offering an estimated range of up to 720 km (WLTP) or 400 miles (EPA). Rapid charging capabilities allow for adding 200 miles of range in approximately 13 minutes.

Design-wise, the Type 01 follows a philosophy described as ‘exuberant modernism,’ characterized by a long bonnet, low roofline, and a drag coefficient of 0.23, making it the most aerodynamic Jaguar to date. The interior includes a 24-inch OLED display and a panoramic glass roof. Orders for the Type 01 are expected to open in early 2027, with prices starting at approximately £130,000.
