Jaguar unveils Type 01 electric luxury grand tourer
Jaguar has officially unveiled the Type 01, a high-performance electric grand tourer that marks a radical pivot for the British automaker toward the ultra-luxury segment. Unveiled at an event in New York, the vehicle is the first production model under the brand’s new identity, aiming to attract a younger, more affluent demographic.
The Type 01 is built on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and features a tri-motor setup delivering up to 1,030 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds. The vehicle boasts a highly aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.23, a long bonnet, and a distinctive silhouette that lacks a traditional rear window.
Technical specifications include a 118-kWh battery capable of providing a WLTP range of up to 720 kilometers. The 850-volt architecture allows for rapid charging, potentially adding 321 kilometers of range in just 13 minutes at a 350-kW station. Orders for the Type 01 are expected to begin in early 2027, with deliveries slated for the second half of that year. This launch follows a period of transition for Jaguar, which has moved away from its traditional internal combustion engine lineup to focus exclusively on electric mobility.
