Jaguar unveils Type 01 luxury electric grand tourer
Jaguar has officially debuted its new luxury four-door electric grand tourer, the Type 01, at an event in New York. Representing a significant step in the brand’s transition toward an all-electric lineup, the vehicle features a bold, hypermodern design characterized by the absence of a traditional rear window, utilizing a ‘ClearSight rear view display’ via camera instead.
The Type 01 is powered by a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system producing over 1,000 horsepower and 1,365 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds. The vehicle is built on an 850V electrical architecture with a 118kWh battery, offering an estimated range of up to 720km under WLTP standards and supporting rapid charging that can add 321km of range in 13 minutes.
Production is scheduled to begin at Jaguar’s Solihull plant in the UK starting in 2027, with orders expected to open in early 2027. The vehicle’s launch follows the controversial reception of the Type 00 concept, as the company seeks to reestablish its identity in the high-end luxury market.
