Jah Wobble and Tian Qiyi Release Reimagined “Strawberry Fields Forever”

Legendary bassist Jah Wobble and the Liverpool‑based duo Tian Qiyi have issued a new version of the Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever”. The track opens their upcoming album *Mystic Liverpool: The Beatles Psychedelic Psongbook*, slated for release on 14 August through Cherry Red Records and Wobble’s 30 Hertz label.

The recording blends dub basslines with Chinese, Mongolian and traditional instruments – erhu, morin khuur, yangqin and guzheng – performed by Charlie Wardle, John T Wardle and Zi Lan Liao. The album will reinterpret several psychedelic Beatles songs, including “Tomorrow Never Knows”, “Within You Without You” and “I Am The Walrus”.

To promote the release, Wobble and Tian Qiyi will tour the UK in August and September, with additional shows in Belgium in November.
