Jai Arrow reaches 100-game milestone amid MND battle

South Sydney Rabbitohs player Jai Arrow reached his 100-game milestone in an emotional final appearance against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium. The 31-year-old had previously announced his immediate retirement from the NRL following a diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND).

To allow Arrow to reach the century mark, the NRL granted special dispensation for him to start his final two matches before being substituted almost immediately. During his 100th appearance, Arrow was met with a guard of honour from former players and a standing ovation from a crowd of approximately 45,000 people. The event featured tributes including the songs ‘Stand by Me’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

The match also saw the Rabbitohs secure a 50-20 victory over the Roosters. Beyond the field, the rugby league community has shown significant support for Arrow, including assistance from Roosters chairman Nick Politis, who helped fund a wellness retreat for the player.
