Jai Arrow reaches 100-game milestone amid MND battle

Overview

Jai Arrow has officially reached his 100-game milestone for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in an emotional final appearance against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium. Following his diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND) and subsequent announcement of medical retirement, the NRL granted special dispensation allowing Arrow to start his final two matches before being substituted almost immediately.

During the milestone match, the 31-year-old was met with a guard of honour from former players and a standing ovation from a crowd of approximately 45,000 people. Tributes included musical performances of ‘Stand by Me’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. The Rabbitohs secured a 50-20 victory over the Roosters during the event.

Support for Arrow continues to be widespread within the rugby league community, including ongoing assistance from Roosters chairman Nick Politis, who previously helped fund a wellness retreat for the player.
