Jai Arrow to receive NRL Grand Final tribute

The NRL will hold a special tribute to Jai Arrow during the Grand Final at Accor Stadium ahead of the match between the Sydney Roosters and the Newcastle Knights. The tribute follows Arrow’s diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND) earlier this year.

As part of the ceremony, Arrow is expected to complete a lap of honour while a group of Australian musicians performs the song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. The crowd of approximately 80,000 will be encouraged to participate by gesturing as if they are firing an arrow.

NRL Executive Chairman Peter V’landys described the event as a ‘surprise’ and a moment that matters. The decision to focus on this tribute comes after the league opted not to host traditional pre-match entertainment following a breakdown in negotiations with artist Tones and I.
