Jai Ram Thakur leads BJP protest in Shimla and defends Delhi visit
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislature Party in Himachal Pradesh staged a protest in Shimla, where members sang ‘Vande Mataram’ in front of a Mahatma Gandhi statue. Led by Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, the demonstration lasted approximately ninety minutes. Thakur stated the protest was a response to the state government’s decision to remove the singing of the complete song from the Legislative Assembly’s proposed business.
Separately, Jai Ram Thakur defended his recent visit to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi following criticism from Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Thakur asserted that his discussions focused on the monsoon damage in Himachal Pradesh and the necessity of state assistance. He countered allegations regarding insufficient central aid, claiming the Central Government has provided more support than requested and questioning whether the funds have effectively reached families devastated by recent calamities.
