Jailer 2 becomes highest-grossing Tamil film of all time

The Rajinikanth-led action film Jailer 2 has officially become the highest-grossing Tamil-language film in history. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the sequel has surpassed the previous record holder, Rajinikanth’s own 2.0, at both the domestic and worldwide box office.

As of its 12th day of release, the film has grossed over Rs 700 crore worldwide, with reports indicating figures as high as Rs 733 crore. In India, the film has crossed the Rs 400 crore net collection mark. While the film experienced a typical weekday dip on its second Monday, its performance remains a significant milestone for the Kollywood industry.

The film’s success is attributed to Rajinikanth’s enduring stardom and a massive ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and S. J. Suryah. To celebrate the achievement, Rajinikanth recently attended a theatrical screening with fans in Chennai, marking his first such public appearance in 40 years.
