Box office performance and audience reception of Jailer 2
Overview
Following its worldwide release on October 15, 2026, ‘Jailer 2’ has maintained strong momentum at the Indian box office. Prior to release, promotional efforts included character teasers for cast members such as Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep and S J Suryah as Bodhi Kalpak, as well as a first look at Vidya Balan as Kantha. The musical campaign featured the single ‘One Sun One Moon’, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and the anthem ‘One Name’.
By its twelfth day, ‘Jailer 2’ officially became the highest-grossing Tamil-language film in history, surpassing ‘2.0’ at both the domestic and worldwide box office. By its fourteenth day, the film surpassed the ₹750 crore mark in worldwide gross collections. On its eighteenth day, the film reached a cumulative worldwide gross of 807.25 crore rupees. This milestone was achieved with sustained momentum across Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada languages.
On October 24, superstar Rajinikanth made a rare public appearance at a PVR Cinemas in Chennai to watch the film alongside fans, accompanied by composer Anirudh Ravichander. This visit marked the first time in four decades that the actor has watched one of his films in a theatre with an audience.
By its twentieth day, the film reached a global total of approximately 816.9 crore rupees, including 275.25 crore rupees from international markets. In India, the film has earned a net collection of 463.05 crore rupees. The film is reportedly approaching a record in Tamil Nadu, needing approximately 6.8 crore rupees to surpass the earnings of Vijay's ‘The Greatest of All Time’. Additionally, reports suggest OTT rights were purchased for 160 crore rupees, with a potential streaming debut on Amazon Prime Video around November 12.
