Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 set for worldwide release amid strong advance bookings

The highly anticipated Tamil action thriller ‘Jailer 2’, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026. The sequel follows the character Muthuvel ‘Tiger’ Pandian as he faces new underworld threats to protect his family and legacy.

Advance bookings have shown significant momentum, with reports indicating gross collections between ₹41 crore and ₹56 crore across various markets. In Tamil Nadu, Chennai has emerged as a primary driver for sales. Despite the strong commercial outlook, the release faces potential challenges due to a revenue-sharing dispute between distributors and theater owners in several districts, including Salem and Dharmapuri.

The film features a star-studded ensemble including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty, and Vidya Balan, with a reported cameo by Hrithik Roshan. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The production, handled by Sun Pictures, has confirmed a wide release, including a Hindi version, following earlier rumors of limited distribution.
