Jair Bolsonaro’s defense files requests with Supreme Court regarding weapons and home schooling

Legal representatives for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro have filed several requests with Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes regarding the conditions of his ongoing house arrest.

In one filing, Bolsonaro’s defense requested that the Brazilian Army not permanently retain ten firearms seized by the Federal Police in July. The defense is seeking to maintain the standard 90-day regulatory period for determining the final destination of the weapons, arguing they should not be destroyed or donated. This follows a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office to transfer the weapons to the Army. The seizure occurred after Justice Moraes revoked Bolsonaro’s weapon permit and ordered the recovery of a pistol found with an Army sergeant.

Additionally, the defense has requested authorization for private mathematics and chemistry tutors to visit Bolsonaro’s residence to provide weekly educational support for his youngest daughter. Bolsonaro is currently serving a sentence of 27 years and three months under house arrest. While some visitation restrictions for family members have been lifted, political activities and certain visits remain strictly regulated by the court.
