Jair Bolsonaro's medical side effects and seized shotgun amid house arrest

Medical reports submitted by Jair Bolsonaro's defense to Brazil's Supreme Federal Court indicate the former president is experiencing fatigue, drowsiness and occasional balance instability as side effects of his medication. The reports say his overall health remains stable compared with the previous week, with progressive improvement in blood pressure and a reduction in hiccup episodes after a medication adjustment made about a month ago. Bolsonaro follows a strict diet, regular physiotherapy and exercise to prevent falls and manage reflux.

Two physiotherapy sessions this week showed good mobility on Monday, while on Thursday he was noted as “a little more tired and indisposed” but reported no pain. He continues to serve his house‑arrest sentence imposed by Justice Alexandre de Moraes on July 3. During a Federal Police search of his residence on July 8, a shotgun registered to Bolsonaro was seized. The Workers' Party has filed a petition with the STF seeking to overturn the house‑arrest order.
