Indonesia expands online student admission system SPMB for 2026 across multiple provinces
Provincial authorities in Indonesia have opened enrollment for the 2026/2027 school year through the nationwide Sistem Penerimaan Murid Baru (SPMB). In Jakarta, the system began accepting applications on 15 June, offering 245,980 seats across public schools, joint public‑private programmes and a free private‑school scheme, with a budget of Rp253.6 billion allocated to support private‑school participation. \"Each child in Jakarta must have equal opportunity to quality education,\" said Dinas Pendidikan head Nahdiana.
In West Java, DPRD member Maulana Yusuf warned that verification gaps may allow students living near a school to be rejected while those farther away are admitted, urging transparent processes and better training for school verifiers. Meanwhile, Bandung Barat prepared 48,132 seats for primary and junior‑high schools, with all applications submitted online between 19 June and early July. \"Total quota is about 31,000 for elementary and 17,132 for junior high,\" explained district education chief Edy Syafrudin.
Riau province reported smooth online registration for senior high and vocational schools, with 80,618 active user accounts and more than 73,000 students having made their first‑choice selections. Technical team leader Jeffri Hunter noted that early technical issues had been resolved and urged candidates to use remaining second‑ and third‑choice options before the 19 June deadline.
