Jakarta and Surabaya boost parking enforcement and digital payment systems

The North Jakarta Transportation Agency intensified a joint operation from 8 June to 15 June 2026 to curb illegal parking across five districts. Officers towed motorcycles, cars, buses and trucks, issued fines and seized illegal parking equipment, handling dozens of violations each day to ease congestion.

In Surabaya, the municipal government expanded its non‑cash digital parking program to new streets and districts. More than 900 parking staff now use QR‑code and e‑money terminals, and the city reports a roughly 10 % rise in parking‑related revenue since the system’s rollout earlier in the year. Both initiatives aim to improve traffic flow, increase transparency and grow local fiscal resources.
