Jakarta Barat police arrest couple for suspected infanticide

Police in Jakarta Barat have arrested a couple, identified by the initials R and E, for the suspected killing and disposal of their newborn baby. The incident occurred in the Keagungan area of Tamansari.

According to Tamansari Metro Police Chief Kompol Bobby M. Zulfikar, the couple allegedly killed the infant immediately after birth by covering the baby's mouth to stop it from crying. The deceased female infant was wrapped in a blanket, placed in a cardboard box, and then inside a gunny sack before being buried in a collapsed, roofless building in the RT 05 RW 02 neighborhood.
