Jakarta completes major road repairs and Muara Angke garbage cleanup

The East Jakarta municipal government announced that four road sections that had been sinking were fully repaired on 6 June 2026. The sites – Jalan Raya Pondok Gede (Lubang Buaya), two points on Jalan Raya TMII Pintu 1 (Pinang Ranti) and Jalan Raya Bekasi Timur (Jatinegara Kaum) – were fixed after earlier work left the pavement uneven under heavy traffic. Deputy head of Public Works Yogi Metropeni said, "All previously damaged points have been repaired, but we will continue monitoring to prevent future subsidence."

In North Jakarta, the provincial DKI administration reported that the cleanup of the waste pile at Muara Angke is 85‑90 % complete and is slated to finish by the weekend. The operation involves about 100 field personnel, two amphibious excavators and three waste‑transport vessels. Assistant for Development and Environment Afan Adriansyah Idris said, "Cleaning is being accelerated so the entire waste pile can be dealt with by the end of the weekend," and noted that after removal, regular inspections and upstream waste‑control measures will be enforced to avoid future buildup.
