Woman Found Dead in West Jakarta Boarding House; Suspect Arrested

On July 29 2026, residents of a boarding house on Jalan Makaliwe in the Grogol Petamburan area of West Jakarta reported a pool of blood on the floor. Police were called and discovered the body of a 52‑year‑old woman, identified only as “M,” with a wound to the left side of her head. The victim had apparently visited the boarding house earlier that night, possibly to see her husband, before the fatal incident occurred.

Investigators from the Metro Jakarta Police opened a criminal case, collected evidence—including a hammer, phones and a motorcycle—and conducted a forensic examination at the Polri Hospital Kramat Jati. Within hours, a male suspect identified only as “E” was located in Cilandak, South Jakarta, and taken into custody. Authorities say the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a hammer, causing the fatal head injury.

The case remains under active investigation, with police continuing to interview witnesses and examine the scene. The incident has prompted calls for increased security in boarding houses across the city.
