Jakarta East Traffic Agency Tightens Parking Rules on Mayjen Sutoyo
The Jakarta East Transport Department (Sudinhub) announced stricter enforcement of on‑street parking on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo in the Cawang area. Parking is allowed only at designated points and times, with the aim of easing traffic congestion.
Head of Sudinhub Harlem Simanjuntak explained that violations occur when vehicles exceed capacity or ignore the prescribed rows. He said, "Pada ruas Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo memang terdapat pengaturan parkir on street pada titik dan jam tertentu. Namun masih ditemukan kendaraan yang parkir melebihi kapasitas dan tidak sesuai baris parkir yang telah ditetapkan."
On the west side (Tanjung Priok direction) parking follows a 45‑degree diagonal pattern, permitted from 06:00‑10:00, accommodating about 95 cars and 200 motorcycles. The east side (Cililitan direction) uses a parallel single‑row pattern, prohibited from 16:00‑20:00 on weekdays, with a capacity of roughly 26 cars. Outside prohibited hours, vehicles may park provided they follow the parallel rule and stay in the left lane. The department will increase monitoring and issue penalties for non‑compliant parking.
