Jakarta Governor Approves Ciangir Site to Compost 9,000 Tons of City Waste

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced his approval for using the Ciangir area in Legok district, Tangerang, Banten, as a dedicated compost storage facility. The move is part of the provincial effort to manage roughly 9,000 tons of municipal waste generated daily in the capital.

Anung said that if the compost scheme is fully implemented, the majority of Jakarta’s waste could be handled at Ciangir. He also noted that the city's waste will be further utilized for waste‑to‑energy power plants in Bantargebang, Bekasi, and for producing Refuse‑Derived Fuel (RDF) at sites such as Rorotan.
