Indonesia: President Prabowo launches electric motorcycle ecosystem and infrastructure projects FAST-MOVING
President Prabowo Subianto has launched the National Electric Motorcycle Ecosystem (MOLINAS) in Cikarang to bolster Indonesia's energy independence and domestic industry. The initiative includes plans for low-interest financing and zero-down-payment schemes to encourage consumer adoption. The government aims to reduce reliance on imported fuel, noting that B50 biodiesel implementation has already saved approximately Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange.
In his state address, Prabowo also highlighted significant infrastructure and food security achievements. This includes the inauguration of 3,395 bridges and 3,000 clean water sources built by the TNI and Polri, which serve millions of citizens. Additionally, the President reported achieving food self-sufficiency in eight commodities and outlined plans for modernizing the fishing fleet and expanding village cooperatives.
As the administration prepares the 2027 budget, focus remains on protecting the middle class and maintaining a fiscal deficit below the 3% constitutional limit. Investors are closely monitoring these fiscal plans amid concerns regarding commodity export controls and economic growth targets.
