Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Announces Free Public Transport and Subsidy Review
Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the Transjabodetabek SH2 route (Blok M–Soekarno‑Hatta) and said the DKI Jakarta province will adjust its subsidies for the service. For 2026 the province is contributing roughly Rp 401 billion, about 10 % of the total Transjakarta subsidy, and urged surrounding regencies to share the funding burden.
He also announced that public transport will be free on 27‑28 June 2026, with free entry to major attractions such as Ancol, Ragunan and city museums, to mark Jakarta’s 499th anniversary on 22 June. The celebration will include the revamp of the Rasuna Said corridor, the opening of a new KRL station serving Jakarta International Stadium, and a bridge linking the stadium area with Ancol.
These measures aim to improve mobility across the capital’s agglomeration and promote tourism during the milestone anniversary.
