Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo pushes waste segregation, education reforms and community services

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo signed a gubernatorial instruction (Ingub) to require household waste segregation across the capital. He announced a partnership with the Ministry of Environment to declare city‑wide waste‑sorting and cited pilot areas such as Rorotan in Cilincing. The move follows capacity limits at the Bantargebang integrated waste processing plant after a recent landslide.

Pramono also said Jakarta will expand its free‑private‑school program to 103 schools and continue key education schemes including the Kartu Jakarta Pintar, Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul, diploma cleaning and a city‑specific LPDP scholarship aimed at sending students abroad. These steps are intended to improve education outcomes and lower the city’s Gini ratio.

In addition, the governor urged local kelurahan offices to go beyond administrative duties and serve as venues for residents to raise complaints on issues such as domestic violence, marital disputes and other community problems, noting that more than 2,600 complaints were recorded last year.
