Jakarta launches joint crackdown on illegal parking and rogue attendants

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, led by Head of the Transportation Agency Budi Awaluddin, has launched a large‑scale operation to curb illegal parking and unlicensed parking attendants across the capital. The effort involves the Transportation Department, Satpol PP, the Indonesian National Armed Forces and police, with about 600 personnel mobilised for coordinated patrols.

The operation targets fifteen key locations in Jakarta's western, central, southern, northern and eastern districts. Over a three‑week period, authorities will conduct daily patrols, remove wheels from two‑wheelers parked illegally and tow offending cars. Officials urge motorists to use designated parking facilities and warn against paying rogue attendants.

The crackdown is part of a broader strategy to increase the availability of lawful parking spaces, which the city estimates at tens of thousands, and to eliminate the pervasive practice of illegal parking enforcement.
