Jakarta rolls out Rp1 MRT fare and opens JIS commuter station for 499th anniversary
To mark Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, the provincial government introduced a special Rp 1 fare on the MRT network for three days – 22, 27 and 28 June 2026. The measure, issued under DKI Transport Authority Decision No. 102/2026, was announced by PT MRT Jakarta director‑general Tuhiyat, who said the subsidy aims to encourage a shift to public transport and reduce private‑vehicle traffic. The reduced fare applies to all MRT routes on the specified dates.
At the same time, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) commuter‑rail station was opened for limited service on 22 June. The station, served by the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota commuter line, offers a Rp 1 fare for journeys to and from the stadium until 28 June. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and Governor Pramono Anung highlighted the new platform and extended KRL operating hours for large‑scale events, stressing improved connectivity for sports, concerts and other gatherings around the stadium.
Both initiatives are part of a broader push to integrate Jakarta’s public‑transport network, reduce congestion and promote sustainable mobility during the city’s anniversary celebrations.
