Jakarta odd-even traffic rule resumes on June 18, 2026
The odd‑even traffic restriction in Jakarta was reinstated on Thursday, 18 June 2026, after a temporary suspension during the Islamic New Year holiday. Under the rule, only vehicles with even‑numbered licence plates (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) may travel on designated roads during the peak periods, while vehicles ending in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) are barred.
The restriction applies from 06:00‑10:00 and 16:00‑21:00 on workdays. Outside these hours, all vehicles may use the roads. Violators face a fine of up to IDR 500,000 or up to two months imprisonment, enforced through electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) and police officers. The policy covers 26 major streets, including major arteries such as Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and Jalan Gatot Subroto, among others. Exemptions apply to emergency vehicles, public transport, electric two‑wheelers, and certain official or diplomatic vehicles.
