Jakarta offers Rp1 public‑transport fares and waives vehicle tax penalties for 499th anniversary

To mark Jakarta’s 499th anniversary in 2026, the DKI provincial government introduced a series of public‑service incentives. On June 22, June 27 and June 28, residents can ride MRT Jakarta, the Kelapa Gading–Pulo Gadung LRT line and TransJakarta buses for a flat fare of Rp 1 per trip, with no route limits during operating hours. The fare‑reduction scheme is part of a broader celebration that also provides free entry to several city attractions, including Ancol Dreamland, the National Monument and Ragunan Zoo.

In parallel, the provincial tax office issued a decree eliminating late‑payment penalties for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB). The waiver applies automatically to any tax payments made between 1 June and 31 August 2026, allowing vehicle owners to settle their dues without additional interest or fines. Both measures aim to ease financial burdens for citizens and encourage compliance with municipal services during the anniversary period.
